Carved into the Jugiong Hills, The Ranch was built by Matt and Stevi from nothing but a perimeter fence.
A full equine facility has been built that includes two riding arenas, a roundyard, holding pens, day yards, undercover yard, stable box stalls and large paddocks. The Ranch facilities include a fully enclosed and temperature regulated workshop area with toilet and shower.
Situated right off the Hume Highway, The Ranch is easily accessible (3hrs from Sydney, 5 hours from Melbourne and only 1.5hrs from the Canberra airport).
If required, accommodation options range from the very basic camping amenities to the five-star Sir George cabins and everything in between. Contact us for more details.
Matt
Matt is the quintessential cowboy; he lives by a simple code and honours core values of hard work, dependability and trust.
He believes that building strong relationships through honest communication, with his horses and with his clients, are the foundations of his successful businesses.
Matt has been starting horses for 20+ years and will quickly tell you that the magic is in the 3c’s; connection, consistency and communication. His philosophy on training with values and not training with methods is underpinned by the belief that every horse is an individual and what works for one, will not necessarily work for another.
And it is no different with humans.
Matt will work with you, one on one, to help you uncover the raw material that forms your unique make-up and provide you with the tools to shape yourself into the person that you want to be.
Stevi
Stevi is a corporate cowgirl. She is one part ranch-hand and one part business woman.
She earned her bachelor degree early and has worked across a wide range of industries, in a variety of roles, from secretary to executive officer, throughout her career. She has a varied skill set and works hard to ensure that every new role adds another branch of knowledge. Her work in human resources and psychology has led to a solid understanding of leadership, motivation and relationship.
Stevi has a deep passion for all animals but has a special place for horses. From a very young age, they have been part of who she is. Growing up in southern Alberta, Canada, horses were a way of connecting with her Daddy and her Albertan heritage.
Now, they serve as trustworthy, hard-working and dedicated members of her own ranch, reminding her daily of who she is and where she came from.
Stevi loves to challenge people through thoughtful interactions and experiences, to become better versions of themselves daily. She will work with you to understand your ‘autopilot’ and assist you to move into conscious awareness of your behaviour and the patterns that are holding you back from reaching your potential.
Meet the Herd
The Horses
The Ranch is home to 23 horses; a range of colours, breeds, ages and capabilities.
Our horses have been assessed with regards to their suitability for different modes of learning and different handlers and riders capabilities.
Not all of our herd are available for sessions as each have their own unique role (some are mamas and they are given space to raise their babies!).
Our horses come from all walks of life and have found their purpose on the ranch. They are family members and are treated as such.
The Sheep
The perfect regulators!
Our little poddy herd are very ‘people friendly’ and enjoy pats or just presence, if that is what is needed. They facilitate regulation in a very gentle, non-confrontational manner and are happy to just ‘be’ with you.
The Goats
Harry and Cecil are relatively new to The Ranch but have already taken up residence in the barn.
They are cheeky little boys with large personalities. They are available for coaching lessons for those who find the horses' size intimidating or for those who just want to get to know someone a bit different.
The Dogs
There are currently 11 canine residents at The Ranch, 9 retired kelpie work dogs and 2 whippet house dogs.
Our dogs are fully capable of facilitating both personal and professional development sessions for those who would like the challenge of working on communication skills.

Horses are beautiful, intelligent, sensitive and strong beings who can evoke strong feelings in clients in the learning process.
Calm and healthy horses can assist in co-regulating a client’s nervous system, can model healthy living and expression of feelings as well as offering non judgemental safety and trust. Horses can offer unique biofeedback and hold clients in a way traditional coaching environments cannot. The natural environment can also contribute positively to learning and healthy living outcomes for clients.
